AURORA, Colo. — On October 29th and 30th, CJI hosted the 2nd Annual Institutional Corrections Research Network (ICRN)/National Corrections Reporting Program (NCRP) Meeting on behalf of the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) and the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) at the National Corrections Academy in Aurora.

The meeting was very well attended, even in the midst of Hurricane Sandy, with 57 attendees from 38 states and the District of Columbia.  Presentations and discussions by Abt Associates, BJS, and NIC addressed upcoming enhancements to NCRP and innovative ways of using the data.  For example, NCRP provides for ground-breaking ways to study recidivism across states lines.

Attendees learned about the implications and applications of the NCRP while networking with one another and providing invaluable feedback.  As one attendee commented, the meeting “stimulated thoughtful research questions, ideas and new methods.”  The meeting materials and presentations are available on the meeting website.
