Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Juvenile Reentry

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe was recently recognized as one of three tribes to participate in the BJA-funded Second Chance Act juvenile demonstration grant. The Leech Lake Band, including its Tribal Court, will partner with CJI, Cass County Probation Department, and the Ninth Judicial District Court for Cass County, Minnesota, to create a culturally-specific, asset-based, wraparound reentry program for Leech Lake juveniles returning to the Reservation from placement in secure detention.

CJI is working as the local action research partner with the city of Fall River, MA. CJI staff work closely with Fall River partners to use data to help guide and assess collaborative efforts to reduce youth gang violence.

MA Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative

The State of Massachusetts, through the Department of Youth Services (DYS) and with other Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) partners, is in the process of implementing detention reform in four Massachusetts counties with technical assistance from CJI.

Juvenile Justice Workforce

CJI collaborated with Cornerstones for Kids and CPS Human Resource Services to conduct a national assessment of the condition of the juvenile justice workforce, to explore the impact of juvenile justice reform on the workforce, and to produce a report on aligning workforce efforts with reform goals.
