Massachusetts Reentry: Preparing Prisoners for EmploymentWith support from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, CJI conducted a three-county examination of the preparation of prisoners for employment upon release. An examination of the Hampden, Suffolk and Essex County Sheriffs’ Departments reentry process and employment preparation included surveys, interviews and site visits of each department as well surveys and interviews with other key partners; the Department of Correction and the Parole Board. CJI conducted focus groups with community service providers in each county who assist ex-prisoners as they transition into the community. The result is a report titled Preparing Massachusetts Prisoners for Employment: A Three-County Review of Current Practice. Included in the report is a mapping presentation of the availability and accessibility of reentry services in the community to the neighborhoods to which ex-prisoners return and a directory of services in the counties of Suffolk and Hampden. *Report Forthcoming: "Preparing Massachusetts Prisoners for Employment: A Three-County Review of Current Practice"* |
