Evidence-Based Strategic Planning in Kansas |
Strategic Planning Coordinator, Kansas Evidence-Based Practices Implementation EffortThe Crime and Justice Institute was recently awarded a cooperative agreement by the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) to assist the Kansas Department of Corrections to develop and implement a statewide strategic plan for the implementation of evidence-based practices (EBP). CJI will be supporting the state oversight agency as it leads local community corrections agencies through an organizational change process. CJI will also develop the capacity of the Kansas Department of Corrections staff to serve as evidence-based practice content experts and change agents with the goal of supporting sustainable system change, at both the state and local levels. Initially, CJI will gather information in the areas of Administration and Planning; Human Resources and Training; Information Systems, Measurement and Evaluation; and Assessment, Case Planning, Interventions, and Supervision with a focus on alignment with evidence-based practices. Following the assessment phase, CJI will facilitate a series of strategic planning meetings with Kansas DOC staff to support the development and implementation of a strategic plan aligned with EBP. The CJI team will then provide technical assistance and training, coaching and support to Kansas DOC staff as they roll-out the strategic plan with selected pilot jurisdictions across the state.
