Examination of MA Reentry

Examination of Massachusetts Prisoner Reentry Process

CJI, with support from the Dwyer & Collora Foundation and the Gardiner Howland Shaw Foundation, examined the Massachusetts criminal justice system to understand the current prisoner reentry process and create momentum to reform the system for improved public safety through better reentry outcomes. CJI published its findings and recommendations in a report titled Promoting Public Safety Through Successful Community Transition. The report was presented at a forum which convened national and local criminal justice leaders at the Massachusetts State House to discuss the way forward. The forum provided an opportunity for Massachusetts leaders and practitioners to enhance their knowledge, broaden their understanding of the opportunities in reentry reform, and examine promising practices in Massachusetts as well as other jurisdictions.
