Kristen Nielsen joined CJI in December of 2010 and brings excellent organizational, problem solving, and communication skills to the CJI team. She works across a variety of projects providing support around such things as organizing logistics for complex projects, administering organizational site assessments, system mapping, staffing several workgroups, including the Supervisors Leadership Academy and Systemic Interventions workgroups, report writing, conference planning, webinar production, and curating the online resource library for technical assistance work in California. Ms. Nielsen has been part of several project teams including technical assistance in California, work on the BJA Justice Reinvestment project, and organizational assessments in South Carolina and New York. Ms. Nielsen has been in the social work field for the past eleven years and prior to working for CJI, she spent eight years working with offenders on the county, state and federal level in the pre-release and reentry realms. Her experience includes time as a Program Director, Manager and therapist. She has worked with offenders throughout the country including Harlem, NY, where she worked for one of the first Parole Reentry Courts in the country. Ms. Nielsen received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Northeastern University in Boston, MA and her Masters Degree in Social Work from New York University. |
