Julie Finn joined the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI) at Community Resources for Justice in October 2005. At CJI, Ms. Finn provides project and research support on a variety of projects, including work on the Charles E. Shannon Community Safety Initiative. In collaboration with local Fall River, Massachusetts youth organizations, service providers, and law enforcement agencies, the project’s goal is to intervene and prevent youth and gang violence in the city of Fall River. As part of this Initiative, Ms. Finn works with the Fall River Police Department to collect and analyze youth crime data and creates maps that geographically depict youth and gang crime activity.

Ms. Finn also assists in data analysis and reports to inform strategy of several different initiatives, including work with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services in the implementation of the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative. Additionally, she conducts organizational site assessments for criminal justice agencies, including the Likert Organizational Climate survey and Texas Christian University’s Survey of Organizational Functioning. As co-administrator of CJI’s website, Ms. Finn is responsible for content management, design assistance, and web-based project support for CJI staff.

Prior to her work with CJI, Ms. Finn worked in the Massachusetts State Senate as the Scheduler and Office Manager for a state Senator, where she managed the Senator’s schedule, coordinated collaborative partnerships with state agencies and the community, reviewed and identified priorities with the Senator, and acted as the point of contact to him. Ms. Finn graduated from Colby College in 2003 with a Bachelors Degree in Government.
