Gabriella Priest joined CJI in December of 2010 as a Research Assistant, after spending over a year with CRJ in the Standards and Quality Assurance Department as the Quality Assurance Manager for Youth Services. Ms. Priest works on several projects with CJI including MA criminal justice policy, coordination of the NIC Institutional Corrections Research Network (ICRN) meetings, and the Community Strategies (CS)- CJI Collaborative effort to evaluate CRJ’s programs for individuals with developmental disabilities. Ms. Priest also designs and administers promotional exams for a county correctional facility. In her prior role as CRJ’s QA Manager for Youth Services, she performed evaluation and data analysis of the CRJ youth programs, researched and updated their Policies and Procedures, and prepared materials for presentations and dissemination.

Prior to her work with CRJ, Ms. Priest was the Cooperative Education Coordinator at Suffolk University for five years. She managed the internship program as well as 10 student employees, planned events for all students and events focused on Criminal Justice majors, and served as the Guest Speaker at the 2008 Criminology and Sociology Honor Society Induction. Here she acquired supervision skills, became an expert in program coordination, and showcased her ability to deal with a diversity of stakeholders.

Ms. Priest brings a multitude of experience through her various internship positions in the criminal justice field. She served as a Legislative Intern at the Massachusetts State House where she researched criminal justice issues and summarized briefings and legislation. At Jane Doe Inc. as a Domestic Violence Homicide Study Intern, Ms. Priest analyzed data and performed research to contribute to an extensive report on domestic violence in Massachusetts. During Ms. Priest’s years as a Paralegal at a Law Office, she utilized her writing skills while summarizing depositions and managing case files. Ms. Priest also has exposure and insight to the federal government from her time as an Immigration Intern with the Department of Homeland Security. Through these internships, Ms. Priest fine-tuned her analytic skills, research capabilities, and gained a deep interest and passion for improving the criminal justice system through the utilization of research and evidence-based practices.

Ms. Priest graduated from Suffolk University with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology with a Criminology track in 2006, and with a Master of Science in Criminal Justice in 2009.
